Overview
When You Need ACL Rehabilitation
ACL rehabilitation applies whether you have had surgery or are managing a partial tear without it. After a knee injury that causes pain, swelling, and instability, you need a recovery plan that rebuilds strength in the right order. Returning to sport too soon is one of the most common reasons for re-injury. A proper rehab program protects you from that.
Signs You Should Come In
- ✔ ACL tear confirmed by imaging or clinical assessment
- ✔ Recovering from ACL reconstruction surgery
- ✔ Knee instability, swelling, or pain during activity
- ✔ Want to return to hockey, skiing, or running safely
- ✔ Pre-surgery strengthening before ACL repair
How It Works
Our ACL Rehabilitation Process
We assess your knee, quad strength, hamstring function, and movement patterns. Early rehab focuses on reducing swelling, restoring range of motion, and activating the muscles around the knee. As you progress, we add strength, power, and sport-specific drills. Our physiotherapist and kinesiologist work together — Mahveen on the clinical side, Huzefa on the conditioning side. Return-to-sport testing confirms you are ready before you go back.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need surgery to do ACL rehabilitation?
No. Many partial ACL tears and some complete tears are managed conservatively without surgery. We assess which approach is right for your injury and activity level.
How long does ACL rehabilitation take?
Surgery-based ACL rehab typically takes 9 to 12 months to return to cutting and pivoting sports. Conservative rehab timelines vary. We give you honest, evidence-based timelines from day one.
When can I return to hockey or skiing?
Return to sport is cleared based on objective testing — strength ratios, hop tests, and movement quality — not just time. We do not clear you until you pass the tests.
Is ACL rehab covered by extended health or WCB?
Yes. Physiotherapy for ACL rehabilitation is covered by most extended health plans. WCB covers it when the injury occurred at work. We direct bill.
