Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) in Calgary, AB — Stretch Deeper Than Muscle
Fascial Stretch Therapy targets the connective tissue system — the fascia that surrounds your muscles, joints, and nerves — rather than just isolated muscles. It uses a series of assisted stretches in functional positions to release tightness, improve joint space, and restore range of motion. At One Physio & Mobility Clinic, FST is led by Huzefa Contractor, a certified FST therapist.

Overview
When You Need Fascial Stretch Therapy
FST works well when traditional stretching is not delivering the range of motion or pain relief you need. Athletes recovering from injury, people with chronic tightness from desk work, and patients in rehabilitation who need improved tissue extensibility all benefit from FST. It is also effective for older adults who want to maintain joint mobility and reduce stiffness.
Signs You Should Come In
- ✔ Persistent tightness that does not respond to regular stretching
- ✔ Restricted hip, shoulder, or spine range of motion
- ✔ Chronic pain linked to fascial tightness and restriction
- ✔ Athletes wanting improved mobility for performance
- ✔ Older adults looking to maintain joint mobility
How It Works
Our FST Process
Huzefa assesses your active and passive range of motion in functional positions. FST sessions are table-based and use a series of assisted stretches that move through multiple planes of motion. Traction is applied to decompress joints during the stretching. Sessions are 45 to 60 minutes and are deeply relaxing. Most patients notice meaningful improvements in mobility within 2 to 4 sessions.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What is fascial stretch therapy?
FST is a table-based assisted stretching technique targeting the fascia — the connective tissue surrounding muscles and joints — rather than just the muscles themselves. It produces lasting flexibility gains quickly.
How does FST differ from regular stretching?
FST uses traction, oscillation, and spiral movement patterns to target the entire fascial system. Most clients achieve in one FST session what months of regular stretching cannot.
Is FST painful?
No. FST is performed within your comfortable range. Deeper stretches are only applied when the tissue is ready. Most clients describe it as deeply relaxing.
Is FST covered by extended health?
FST provided by a certified kinesiologist may be covered under kinesiology benefits. Call to confirm your specific coverage.
Do Not Wait to Get Worse on Its Own
