Functional Movement Screening in Calgary, AB — Find Weaknesses Before They Become Injuries
Functional movement screening (FMS) identifies movement pattern deficiencies and asymmetries that put you at higher risk for injury. At One Physio & Mobility Clinic, Huzefa Contractor uses functional movement screening with Calgary athletes, active adults, and workers returning to physical demands — so we address weaknesses before they become problems.

Overview
When You Need Functional Movement Screening
FMS is useful at the start of a training program, before returning to sport after injury, or as part of a workplace injury prevention program. If you have had recurring injuries in the same area, FMS can reveal why. Calgary hockey players, runners, and weekend skiers often have movement asymmetries they are unaware of — and those asymmetries are usually the cause of their recurring pain.
Signs You Should Come In
- ✔ Recurring injuries in the same location
- ✔ Starting a new training or rehabilitation program
- ✔ Pre-season screening before hockey, skiing, or marathon training
- ✔ Return-to-sport assessment after an injury
- ✔ Workplace injury prevention for trades or physical workers
How It Works
Our Functional Movement Screening Process
We take you through a series of seven standardized movement tests that assess mobility, stability, and motor control. Each test is scored and patterns of restriction or asymmetry are identified. Results are used to build a corrective exercise program targeting the specific deficits found. Your FMS results can be shared with coaches, trainers, or employers as a baseline record.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What does a functional movement screen involve?
The FMS is a series of seven movement tests that identify asymmetries, limitations, and dysfunctions in your movement patterns — before they become injuries.
Who should get a functional movement screen?
Athletes, active adults, workers returning from injury, and anyone who wants to understand their movement quality before starting a new training program or sport season.
How long does it take?
The screen itself takes 30 to 45 minutes. Your results are scored and discussed, and a corrective exercise plan is built from the findings.
Is it covered by extended health?
Functional movement screening within a kinesiology or physiotherapy session is typically covered by extended health plans. We direct bill.
