Overview
When You Need Vestibular Rehabilitation
Vestibular problems often follow a concussion, whiplash, or inner ear injury. You may feel dizzy when you move your head, have trouble walking in a straight line, or feel off-balance in busy environments like malls or grocery stores. Nausea and sensitivity to motion are also common. These symptoms can interfere with driving, working, and caring for your family. Early treatment leads to faster recovery.
Signs You Should Come In
- ✔ Dizziness when moving your head or getting up
- ✔ Feeling off-balance or unsteady on your feet
- ✔ Nausea linked to head movement
- ✔ Sensitivity to busy visual environments
- ✔ Balance problems after a head injury or MVA
How It Works
Our Vestibular Rehabilitation Process
We begin with a vestibular assessment to understand your specific symptoms. This includes tests for eye-head coordination, balance, and positional dizziness. Your treatment plan may include repositioning maneuvers, gaze stabilization exercises, and balance retraining. Each session is one-on-one with the same physiotherapist. If your symptoms are linked to an MVA, we can direct bill your claim.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral for vestibular rehabilitation?
No referral needed. Call or book online and we will assess you directly.
How many sessions does vestibular rehab typically take?
Many patients see significant improvement in 4 to 8 sessions. Timeline depends on the cause and severity of your symptoms.
Can vestibular rehabilitation help with BPPV (crystals)?
Yes. BPPV responds very well to repositioning techniques like the Epley manoeuvre, often resolving in one to two visits.
Is it covered by extended health or MVA?
Yes. Vestibular rehab is covered under most extended health plans and Alberta MVA DTPR when the cause is accident-related.
