Core Strengthening in Calgary, AB — Build Real Stability From the Inside Out
Core strength is about more than six-pack muscles. It is the deep stability that protects your spine, supports your pelvis, and keeps you moving without pain. At One Physio & Mobility Clinic, our kinesiologist and physiotherapist design core strengthening programs for Calgary patients recovering from injury, pregnancy, or surgery.

Overview
When You Need Core Strengthening
Weak core muscles contribute to back pain, poor posture, pelvic floor problems, and joint pain throughout the body. If your back aches after sitting at a desk all day, if you have had a baby and feel unstable, or if you are recovering from a surgical procedure, your core may not be working the way it should. A targeted program addresses the root issue rather than masking the symptoms.
Signs You Should Come In
- ✔ Back pain that does not improve with rest or stretching
- ✔ Pelvic floor symptoms linked to core weakness
- ✔ Recovering from surgery and needing core rehab
- ✔ Postural issues from desk work in Calgary office towers
- ✔ Want to return to skiing, running, or lifting safely
How It Works
Our Core Strengthening Process
We assess how your core is actually functioning — not just how strong the surface muscles appear. We look at breathing patterns, intra-abdominal pressure management, and how your deep stabilizers activate. Your program starts with foundational exercises and builds progressively. For postpartum patients or those with diastasis recti, we coordinate with our physiotherapist to make sure the program is safe from the start.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Is core strengthening the same as doing crunches and planks?
No. Real core strengthening starts with the deep stabilizer system — breath work, diaphragm control, and deep abdominal activation. Surface exercises come after the foundation is built.
I have back pain — is core strengthening safe?
Yes, when properly assessed and progressed. Core strengthening is one of the most effective treatments for persistent back pain when the program is matched to your current capacity.
Who leads the sessions?
Our certified kinesiologist designs and supervises your program. For postpartum or post-surgical patients, the physiotherapist is also involved in assessment and program oversight.
Is it covered by extended health?
Kinesiology is covered by most extended health plans. Physiotherapy-led core sessions are also covered. We direct bill.
