Physiotherapy Assessment in Calgary, AB — Your Recovery Starts With the Right Diagnosis
A physiotherapy assessment is the foundation of every effective treatment plan. Without a clear picture of what is actually wrong, treatment is guesswork. At One Physio & Mobility Clinic, every patient receives a thorough one-on-one assessment with Mahveen Moiz, our registered physiotherapist, before any treatment begins.

Overview
When You Need a Physiotherapy Assessment
You need a physiotherapy assessment when you have pain, limited movement, or a physical complaint that has not been explained clearly. Whether you have been in a car accident, have a WCB claim, are recovering from surgery, or just have pain that has persisted longer than expected, a proper assessment identifies the source and sets the direction for treatment. Calgary patients often come to us after other clinics have given them a diagnosis without explanation — we take the time to explain what we find.
Signs You Should Come In
- ✔ New injury or pain that needs a proper diagnosis
- ✔ MVA, WCB, or sports injury requiring assessment for a claim
- ✔ Post-surgical recovery starting point
- ✔ Pain that has not been clearly explained elsewhere
- ✔ Returning to sport or activity after time off
How It Works
Our Physiotherapy Assessment Process
Mahveen takes a thorough history of your injury, activity, and health background. She then performs a physical assessment that looks at movement, strength, joint mobility, and neurological signs where relevant. You receive a clear explanation of what she finds — in plain language, not medical jargon. A treatment plan with realistic goals and timelines is presented before your second visit.

Your first visit is a full assessment: health history, movement and strength testing, postural analysis, and a review of your pain or injury. You leave with a diagnosis, a treatment plan, and exercises to start.
Do I need a referral for a physiotherapy assessment?
No. Alberta physiotherapists can assess and treat directly without a physician referral.
How long does the first assessment take?
First visits are 45 to 60 minutes. Follow-up treatment sessions are 30 to 45 minutes.
Is the assessment covered by extended health?
Yes. Physiotherapy assessments are covered by most extended health plans. We direct bill.
