Overview
When You Need Return-to-Work Programming
Return-to-work programming is for injured workers who are recovering but not quite ready to go back full time. You may still have some pain, reduced strength, or confidence concerns about re-injury. Trades workers, oilfield employees, warehouse staff, and healthcare workers all face specific physical demands. A general fitness program is not enough — you need rehabilitation that mirrors what your job actually asks of your body.
Signs You Should Come In
- ✔ You are medically cleared but not yet back at work
- ✔ Your WCB case manager requires a structured return plan
- ✔ You are worried about re-injury on return to the job site
- ✔ Physical demands of your job are higher than your current capacity
- ✔ You need progressive exposure to work tasks before full return
How It Works
Our Return-to-Work Programming Process
We work from a job demands analysis and your current functional capacity. The program progresses through graduated work simulation exercises that mimic your actual job tasks. Lifting, carrying, bending, and sustained postures are all part of the program when relevant. We coordinate with your employer and WCB case manager as needed. Direct billing to WCB Alberta is handled by our clinic.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How does return-to-work programming differ from regular physiotherapy?
Return-to-work programming is job-specific. We simulate your actual work tasks, build tolerance to your job demands, and communicate directly with your employer and WCB case manager.
Does WCB fund return-to-work programs?
Yes. Return-to-work programming is typically funded by WCB Alberta on accepted claims. We handle billing directly.
What if I am worried about re-injury?
That concern is exactly what this program addresses. We build your capacity progressively and do not clear you for return until you meet the physical demands of your role.
Can my employer be involved?
Yes. With your consent, we can communicate work restrictions and progress updates to your employer and WCB case manager throughout the program.
