Overview
When You Need Rotator Cuff Injury Treatment
Shoulder pain that worsens when you raise your arm, weakness when reaching overhead, and night pain that interrupts your sleep are common rotator cuff symptoms. Symptoms can develop gradually from overuse — especially in trades workers or athletes — or suddenly after a fall or impact. Ignoring a rotator cuff injury often leads to more damage over time.
Signs You Should Come In
- ✔ Pain when lifting your arm above shoulder height
- ✔ Shoulder weakness when reaching overhead or behind
- ✔ Night pain that wakes you up or prevents sleep
- ✔ Shoulder pain from a fall, sports impact, or overuse
- ✔ Recovering from rotator cuff repair surgery
How It Works
Our Rotator Cuff Treatment Process
We assess your shoulder strength, range of motion, and movement mechanics. Treatment combines manual therapy, rotator cuff strengthening exercises, and posture correction. For post-surgical patients, we follow a stage-based protocol that respects healing tissue. For non-surgical cases, we focus on restoring strength and mechanics to relieve pain without going under the knife. Direct billing for extended health plans and WCB is available.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an MRI before starting treatment?
Not always. We can clinically assess your rotator cuff and begin treatment based on your symptoms and movement testing. If imaging is needed, we will advise you.
Can physiotherapy avoid rotator cuff surgery?
Yes — many rotator cuff injuries respond well to physiotherapy, especially partial tears and tendinopathy. Surgery is not always necessary and is typically considered after conservative care.
How long does recovery take?
Rotator cuff tendinopathy often improves in 6 to 12 weeks. Full thickness tears and post-surgical rehab take longer. We give you a realistic timeline at your first visit.
Is it covered by extended health?
Yes. Physiotherapy for rotator cuff injuries is covered by most extended health plans. WCB covers it for workplace shoulder injuries. We direct bill.
